Vrede en Lust is located just outside Franschhoek. It nestles in the valley with mountain views that are simply breathtaking! This is the venue that Bronwyn & Kaan chose for their summer wedding. I met the delightful family for the first time at the Manor House on the estate, where Bronwyn and her retinue were dressing. With such a beautiful bride, photographer Marele Joubert and I were able to capture some amazing shots and footage as the day progressed.
Guests were seated on the vast lawn, looking towards the wedding gazebo, vineyards and mountains beyond. An emotional Kaan greeted his lovely bride at the altar, as minister Marietjie Venter led them in their vows. With a Marimba band playing their vibrant melodies, guests then moved to the poolhouse lawned area for pre drinks. This amazing couple had planned a veritable feast of delights for their guests later that evening, including a very up-beat African rhythm show (great footage!).
John and I really enjoyed filming their day – watch their highlight clips below..
Webersberg wows guests at Mathilda & Johan’s wedding ~ 18.6.11
Coming from an ‘event’s’ background, Mathilda’s wedding was one we were really looking forward to filming! Although it’s been chilly and wet here in the Cape recently, the day dawned with clear blue skies and very passable temperatures!
It always works so well when the bride and her retinue are dressing at the same location as the ceremony & reception, as there’s less worry about timing… As well as the stunning Manor House, Webersberg also has a cute row of guest cottages, so there’s room for lots of family and friends to also make their preparations for the day! Mom, Miemsie, was busy ironing the creases from a shirt, whilst Mathilda and her girls moved from room to room having hair and make- up done before slipping into their wedding outfits. The bridesmaids wore crips white shirts and patterned skirts or a patterned dress, all completed with cowboy boots! So different and such fun! Mathilda’s Didi Coutoure dress fitted her exquisitely and was finished with a jewelled brooch at the waist. So, so lovely.
Karla Oettler and Lize-Mari of Absolute Weddings had coordinated the day for Mathilda and Johan and what a day it was! Even though the sun was shining down as Mathilda crossed the lawn to meet Johan at the altar, the ceremony was to take place indoors, in the old wine cellar. Candles flickered on every available surface as Mathilda & Johan repeated their vows and became man & wife. Hats off to Karla and Lize-Mari for lighting all those candles! A real fairytale!
It was the first time I had worked with talented photographer, Jani of Jani B Photography and we really enjoyed our day together capturing some amazing shots for Mathilda & Johan. Hope to work with Jani again soon!
During pre-drinks, guests were entertained with a riveting magical performance by magician Larry. Mind blowing – literally! Beautiful bride Mathilda was having such fun and the evening didn’t disappoint – great speeches, great food and music with great friends to enjoy it all with! This couple were a delight to work with, happy to march through the fields (bride in floral wellies bought especially for the occasion…) ~ it was all there! Lots of best wishes for the future that lies ahead xxx
